About Mary Ronan
Mary Ronan is a registered nurse with a clinical specialty in reproductive health. She is a wife and mother with two children, ages 21 and 16; and has been involved in ministry with families since 1982. Mrs. Ronan is the author of the book “Raising Your Children In An Ungodly World,” as well as videos entitled “Sex As God’s Gift” and “Raising Your Children In An Ungodly World,” which are distributed nationally and used as teaching tools throughout the world. She works with over 8,000 teens and their families every year, helping them to navigate the transitional and moral difficulties of living in today’s complex world.
On Mary Ronan’s family room wall is a painting of a pink elephant — a perfect fit in her pink house. A dining room wall is decorated with a couple of pictures of flowers, all drawn freehand. The framed art represents the creative genius of Ronan’s two children. Steven, 19, is a freshman at Boston College, and Maggie, 14, is an eighth-grader at St. Joseph School in Brookfield. Their prominence in her household is a testament to her love and affection for two of the most precious beings in her life. Indeed, Ronan has devoted her life to parenting; beyond raising her own children, she has spent 15 years helping guide other parents through the pratfalls of their children’s adolescence. A registered nurse with a specialty in reproductive health, she has focused in particular on teaching teens how to make healthy sexual choices. Most recently, Ronan has written a book called “Raising Your Children in an Ungodly World.” In it, she encourages parents to “love, lead and limit’’ their teens. Ronan, 44, will sign copies of her book and an accompanying video, on Saturday at Borders bookstore in Danbury. The signing runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Ronan, who lives in Brookfield with her husband, Edward, said there were several reasons for writing this book. “I’m in the trenches,’’ she explained, referring to her many hours spent working in middle schools and high schools. Talking to some 8,000 teens and thousands of parents each year, she says “We’re all raising human beings and we’re all human beings, and perfect isn’t the goal. I’ve made the same mistakes as everybody else.’’ ...Click here to open and read entire article featured in The News-Times... |
